Mens Leather Vest Buckle Motorbike Vest
Buckles do the same job as side lacing but faster. Where a laced vest needs threading and tying, a buckle takes one pull to adjust and holds exactly where you set it. On a vest you take on and off over a jacket daily, that difference is worth having.
- Material: 100% leather with metal side buckles
- Fit: Regular fit, adjustable through side buckles
- Closure: Front fastening with buckled sides
- Color: Black
- Care: Dry cloth on the leather, keep buckles dry, condition twice a year
Buckles against lacing
Lacing gives finer adjustment across more points and looks more traditional. Buckles give faster adjustment and hold a set position without loosening — a lace works its way slack over a long ride, a buckle does not.
The practical case for buckles is layering. If you wear the vest over a leather jacket some days and over a t-shirt on others, a buckle lets you switch between the two in seconds. Both versions are in our Men Leather Vests range if you want to compare.
Hardware quality
This is where buckled vests go wrong. Plated pot-metal buckles look fine in a photograph and fail within a couple of seasons — the tongue bends, the plating wears through, or the frame snaps under a hard pull.
The buckles here are solid metal, and each is set through a reinforced tab so the pull load goes into a backing layer rather than into a single thickness of hide. The straps are leather rather than webbing. On a fitting you operate every day, that specification is the whole difference.
The hide and build
100% leather chosen firm rather than soft, because a vest takes constant abrasion from seat backs and bag straps, and a soft hide sags at the shoulder inside a year. Double-stitched seams with heavy polyester thread. Two side pockets backed so they hold weight, an interior pocket, bound armholes cut to clear a jacket sleeve.
The back is a single clean panel with no seam across it, ready for patches or club colours.
Fit and styling
Regular fit with real adjustment from the buckles. Take your normal size over a shirt or t-shirt — the buckles handle layering better than a fixed vest, but size up if a leather jacket goes underneath as standard.
Jeans, boots, plain top. Over a jacket from our Men Leather Jackets it is the riding layer. See Men Leather Shirts to wear underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions
Buckles or lacing — which is better?
Buckles adjust faster and hold their position; lacing gives finer adjustment and a more traditional look. Buckles suit you better if you switch between wearing it over a jacket and over a tee.
Is the hardware solid?
Yes, solid metal rather than plated pot metal, which is what bends or snaps on cheaper vests.
Will the buckles pull out of the leather?
No. Each is set through a reinforced tab so the load goes into a backing layer, not a single thickness of hide.
How much do they adjust?
Enough to take the vest from close over a tee to comfortably over a leather jacket.
Can I add patches to the back?
Yes. The back is a single clean panel with no seam across it.
What size should I order?
Your normal size over a shirt or tee. Size up only if a leather jacket goes underneath as standard. Custom sizing is free.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth on the leather, keep the buckles dry, condition twice a year. Never machine wash or dry clean.
