MEASUREMENT MASTERCLASS

How To Measure For Motorcycle Gear

Accurate measurements are the foundation of road comfort, aerodynamic stability, and safety armor alignment. Use a flexible tailor's tape and measure wearing your usual riding undergarments.

Technical Measurement Points

A. SHOULDERS B. CHEST C. WAIST D. SLEEVE NARSON LEATHER // TECHNICAL PATTERN SYSTEM
01 // CHEST

Chest Measurement

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest circumference of your chest, passing closely under your armpits and straight across your shoulder blades.

  • Keep the tape parallel to the floor at all times.
  • Breathe normally; do not hyper-expand or hold your breath.
  • If you plan to wear a chest protector or back armor insert, wear it while measuring.
02 // WAIST

Waist Measurement

Measure horizontally around your natural waistline (typically 1 to 2 inches / 3-5 cm below your navel, where your riding pants waistband naturally rests).

  • Maintain a comfortable, relaxed posture without sucking in your stomach.
  • Slip one finger beneath the tape measure to ensure proper ergonomic ease for long rides.
03 // SLEEVES

Sleeve Length

With your arm relaxed and slightly bent at the elbow (approx. 45 degrees) in riding position, measure from the outer edge of your shoulder bone down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone.

  • Motorcycle jacket sleeves are intentionally cut 1 inch longer so your wrists remain covered when reaching handlebars.
  • Ensure tape tracks the outer curve of the elbow.
04 // SHOULDERS

Shoulder Width

Stand upright with natural shoulder posture. Measure straight across your upper back from the outer bony tip of your left shoulder to the outer tip of your right shoulder.

  • Follow the natural contour of your upper back without dipping.
  • Crucial for ensuring the internal CE shoulder armor pods align directly over your joint caps.
RIDING PANTS & CHAPS

Measuring Inseam & Thigh

Inseam: Stand barefoot with feet shoulder-width apart against a wall. Measure along the inside of your leg from the crotch junction down to the ankle bone.

Thigh: Measure around the widest part of your upper thigh approximately 2 inches below the groin to ensure leather chaps or racing trousers accommodate knee pucks and armor.

MOTORCYCLE BOOTS

Measuring Foot Length

Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a flat wall. Stand barefoot or with riding socks on the paper with your heel firmly touching the wall.

Mark the tip of your longest toe with a pencil held vertically. Measure the distance from the edge of the sheet to the mark. If between sizes, always size up for riding socks.

PRO FIT & BREAK-IN GUIDANCE

01

Initial Snugness is Expected

Premium full-grain leather will naturally break in and stretch approximately 3-5% over your first 10-15 hours of riding, molding to your individual anatomy. An initially snug fit guarantees the armor remains in place during high-speed motion.

02

Test in the Riding Position

Never evaluate a motorcycle jacket or racing suit while standing upright in front of a mirror. Sit on your motorcycle or assume your riding stance with arms reaching forward to judge sleeve length, shoulder freedom, and lower back coverage.

03

Allow for Thermal Layers

If you ride year-round or through cold seasons with a fleece mid-layer, heated vest, or airbag vest, consider ordering one size larger or contacting our team for bespoke expandable torso gussets.
