Overview & specifications
Women Sheepskin Oversized Collar Jacket
This is the full-sheepskin version of an oversized collar jacket — wool throughout the body as well as an outsized shearling collar, rather than a leather shell with a fur collar attached. It is the warmest thing in this shape we make, and the collar is scaled up enough that turned up it encloses the head almost completely.
- Material: Real sheepskin with natural shearling wool lining throughout
- Fit: Regular womens fit with an oversized collar
- Closure: Front fastening
- Color: Brown with natural wool
- Care: Dry cloth on the leather, brush the wool, never wash
Full sheepskin, oversized collar
There are two ways to build a jacket like this. The cheaper way is a leather or fabric shell with a shearling collar sewn on — warm at the neck, ordinary everywhere else. The other way, which is this one, is full sheepskin throughout with the collar cut oversized from the same material.
The difference is warmth. Every panel of this jacket has wool behind it, so the whole garment insulates rather than just the collar. The difference in weight is real too, and worth knowing before ordering: this is a heavy jacket.
The collar
Cut deliberately large, with a deep stand so it rolls and holds its shape rather than collapsing forward. Turned up it sits high around the jaw and encloses the head; turned down it drapes across the shoulders like a shawl.
A collar this size carries weight, so the neckline and shoulder seams are reinforced — without that, a big collar drags the whole jacket backwards off the shoulders, which is the most common failure on this style.
Why sheepskin stays warm
The hide side blocks wind completely and the wool traps warm air, both from the same skin. No lining to shift, no synthetic wadding to compress and lose loft over the years. A sheepskin jacket is as warm in year ten as it was new, which no padded jacket manages.
Cuffs and hem are finished in sheepskin so there is no cold gap at the wrist or waist.
Fit and styling
Regular fit, cut for a woman's frame. Take your normal size — room for a jumper is already built into the pattern, so avoid sizing up unless you want it loose.
With a collar this large, keep everything else quiet. No scarf, no statement earrings, nothing else competing around the face. Jeans, boots, a plain knit. See our Shearling Leather Jackets, our Women B3 Leather Jackets, or Women Leather Jackets for lighter jackets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the whole jacket sheepskin, or just the collar?
The whole jacket. Every panel has wool behind it, not only the collar, which is what makes it considerably warmer than a leather shell with a fur collar.
Will the oversized collar stay up?
Yes. The collar stand is cut deep and the neckline is reinforced so it holds its shape rather than flopping forward.
Is it heavy?
Yes, this is one of the heaviest jackets we make — full sheepskin plus an outsized collar.
Is the wool real?
Yes, the natural fleece of the same hide, not a synthetic fur.
What size should I order?
Your normal size. Room for a jumper is already built into the pattern.
Can I wear it in the rain?
Light rain is fine. Wipe it and let it dry naturally, never near a heater, and never soak it.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth on the leather, soft brush on the wool including the collar. Never machine wash, dry clean or soak sheepskin.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
