Overview & specifications
PU Short Jacket Coat Moto Biker Jacket
PU stands for polyurethane, and this jacket is made from it rather than from hide. We say that plainly at the top because it is the single most important thing to know: this is a faux leather jacket, not a real one, and it is priced and built accordingly. What it offers instead is light weight, easy care and a moto shape at a fraction of what real hide costs.
- Material: PU faux leather
- Fit: Short moto biker cut
- Closure: Front zip
- Color: Black
- Care: Wipe with a damp cloth, never machine wash, never iron
What PU is, and what it is not
PU is a polyurethane coating applied to a fabric backing and embossed to look like leather. It is not hide, it is not a leather grade, and it does not age like leather — it will not develop a patina, and it does not soften over years the way real leather does.
What it does do is stay exactly as it arrives for a good while, weigh very little, and wipe clean in seconds. It is also consistent: there is no grain variation between panels, because there is no animal skin involved.
If you want real hide, our Women Leather Jackets range is where to look. This is the alternative for someone who wants the look without the cost, or who does not wear leather.
How long PU lasts, honestly
Less than leather, and it fails differently. Rather than wearing thin, a PU coating eventually cracks or flakes at the highest-flex points — elbows, the collar fold, the front edges. How long that takes depends mostly on care: heat and dryness accelerate it badly.
Keep it away from radiators, never tumble dry it, never iron it, and wipe rather than soak it. Treated that way a PU jacket gives you several good seasons.
The moto cut
Short in the body, close through the arms, with panelling at the elbow and a front zip. The shape is the same one used on our leather moto jackets, which is why it reads correctly despite the different material.
PU has slightly more give than leather, so the fit is a little more forgiving. Take your normal size over a tee or thin knit, and size up if you want to layer.
Styling
Black jeans, boots, a plain top — the same outfits a leather moto jacket suits. Because it is light, it also works over a dress in spring without the weight a real leather jacket adds. See our Women Studded Leather Jackets or Women Bomber Leather Jackets for other shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this real leather?
No. It is PU — a polyurethane coating on a fabric backing. Our real leather jackets are in the Women Leather Jackets collection.
Is PU the same as vegan leather?
PU is the material most vegan leather jackets are made from. It contains no animal hide.
How long will it last?
Several good seasons with proper care. PU eventually cracks at high-flex points rather than wearing thin, and heat accelerates that badly.
How do I care for it?
Wipe with a damp cloth. Never machine wash, tumble dry or iron it, and keep it away from radiators.
Does it age like leather?
No. It will not develop a patina or soften over the years. It stays as it arrives until it starts to break down.
What size should I order?
Your normal size over a tee or thin knit; size up to layer. PU has slightly more give than hide, so sizing is a little more forgiving.
Why buy PU over real leather?
Lower cost, much lighter weight, and no animal hide. Real leather lasts longer and ages better.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
