New Style Black Leather Bomber Jacket
This is the contemporary bomber — the traditional shape with the proportions and trims brought up to date. The ribbing is shallower, the body is straighter through the waist rather than blousing above the hem, and the collar sits lower. The result reads as a modern jacket rather than a piece of heritage clothing, which is either exactly what you want or the reason to buy a classic bomber instead.
- Material: Real leather
- Fit: Modern bomber fit, straighter through the body
- Closure: Front zip
- Color: Black
- Care: Dry cloth, condition twice a year, keep away from direct heat
What has been updated
Three things, all to do with proportion. The hem rib is shallower and less gathered, so the jacket falls straight rather than pulling in hard at the waist — the classic bomber blouse is the single detail that dates the shape most. The collar sits lower and flatter against the neck. And the body is cut straighter, without the width through the chest that a traditional bomber carries.
The trade-off is layering room and wind sealing: a gathered hem grips the waist better than a straight one. If you want the traditional proportions, our classic bombers are in the Men Bomber Leather Jackets range.
Minimal trims
One front zip, two hip pockets, nothing else on the outside. No epaulettes, no chest zips, no badge detail. On a jacket whose whole point is a clean modern line, hardware works against it — every extra piece breaks up the silhouette.
The zip is metal tooth in a dark finish so it does not stand out against the black hide, on a reinforced tape so it does not pull on the panels.
Build
Real leather chosen with enough weight to hang cleanly but not so heavy that a straighter cut becomes stiff. Double-stitched seams, reinforced at the shoulders. Interior chest pocket and a smooth lining that lets the jacket slide on over a knit.
Fit and styling
Modern fit, closer than a classic bomber. Take your normal size over a t-shirt or fine knit, and size up if you want to layer something thicker. Leather has no stretch, so between sizes go up rather than down.
Because it is clean and straight, this bomber works with tailoring in a way a traditional one does not — over a shirt with dark trousers it reads smart-casual, and it sits under an overcoat without bulk. See our Men Leather Jackets for biker shapes, or Men Leather Shirts to wear underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a classic bomber?
Shallower ribbing, a straighter body and a lower collar. It falls straight rather than blousing above the hem.
Is it as windproof as a classic bomber?
Slightly less, because a gathered hem grips the waist harder than a straight one. In practice the difference is small.
Is this real leather?
Yes, real leather in a weight chosen to hang cleanly without making the cut stiff.
Can I wear a jumper underneath?
A fine knit, yes. Size up for anything thicker, as the modern cut is closer than a classic bomber.
Does it work under a coat?
Yes. The shallower ribbing and straighter cut mean it layers without bulk.
What size should I order?
Your normal size over a tee or fine knit, sizing up rather than down if you are between. Custom sizing is free.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth, keep away from direct heat, condition twice a year. Never machine wash or dry clean.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
