Overview & specifications
Navy Blue Wool & Gold Leather Sleeves jacket
Navy and gold is the college colourway that looks least like sportswear and most like something you would wear on purpose. Gold leather is warmer and softer than white, so the contrast against a navy body is present without being harsh, and the two together read closer to a heritage combination than a team one.
- Material: Navy wool body with genuine gold leather sleeves
- Fit: Regular varsity fit
- Closure: Snap front placket
- Color: Navy with gold sleeves
- Care: Dry cloth the sleeves, brush the wool, never machine wash
Why navy and gold works
White sleeves give the sharpest contrast and the most obviously athletic look. Gold sits closer in tone to navy, so the split is softer — the sleeves read as a warm accent rather than as a hard break. It is the combination that ages best out of the collegiate context, because it does not shout team kit.
Gold leather also has more visual depth than white. It picks up light differently across the sleeve rather than sitting flat, which is why it looks richer than a pale sleeve does.
For the higher-contrast versions, see our Men Varsity Jackets range.
Practical benefit of a darker sleeve
Gold marks far less readily than white. The main problem with pale leather sleeves is dye transfer from bags, car seats and new denim; a warmer, deeper tone hides all of that, which makes this a considerably lower-maintenance jacket than the white-sleeved version.
Wool and leather construction
Wool across the body is warm, breathable and comfortable to sit against. Leather on the sleeves handles the abrasion sleeves actually get. The shoulder seam where the two meet is double stitched and reinforced — a seam joining two different materials under load is the point a varsity most often fails.
Snap front placket with each snap set through a reinforced tab. Dense knit rib at the collar, cuffs and hem that recovers rather than stretching out. Two angled side pockets, a lined body, and a plain back panel for lettering or a patch.
Fit and styling
Regular varsity fit, roomier than a modern bomber. Take your normal size — room for a hoodie is already built in, so avoid sizing up unless you want it noticeably loose.
Navy and gold sits well with dark denim, grey and cream. Keep the rest plain, since the sleeves carry the colour. See our Men Bomber Leather Jackets or Men Leather Jackets for all-leather shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the sleeves real leather?
Yes, genuine leather in a gold tone. The body is wool, which is the traditional varsity construction.
How does gold compare with white sleeves?
Softer contrast and considerably lower maintenance — gold hides the dye transfer and marks that show readily on white leather.
Can I add lettering or a patch?
Yes. The back panel is left plain for that.
How do I clean a wool and leather jacket?
Dry cloth on the leather sleeves, soft brush on the wool body. Never machine wash or dry clean.
Can I wear a hoodie underneath?
Yes. Varsity proportions are roomier than a modern bomber.
What size should I order?
Your normal size. Avoid sizing up unless you want it noticeably loose. Custom sizing is free.
What does navy and gold go with?
Dark denim, grey and cream. Keep the rest plain since the sleeves carry the colour.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
