Overview & specifications
Mens Western Cowboy Fringed & Beaded Real Leather Jacket
The Mens Western Cowboy Fringed & Beaded Real Leather Jacket is the most heavily worked piece in the western range. It combines stitched leather fringe with hand-set beadwork across the yoke and chest — the two decorative techniques most associated with frontier and rodeo clothing. It takes considerably longer to make than a plain jacket, and it looks it.
- Material: Real leather with fringe and hand-set beadwork
- Fit: Regular fit
- Closure: Snap front
- Color: Brown with multicolour beadwork
- Care: Wipe the leather only, avoid soaking the beaded areas, hang to store
Beadwork: what it is and how it is applied
The beads are threaded and stitched onto the leather individually in rows, following a set pattern. This is slow handwork — a beaded yoke can take many hours by itself — and it is why beaded jackets have always cost more than plain ones. Each bead is anchored by thread rather than glue, so the pattern survives normal wear.
Because it is done by hand, no two jackets are identical. Bead spacing and colour placement vary slightly between pieces, which is the nature of hand-applied decoration rather than a fault.
A note on origins, stated honestly: beadwork of this kind draws on North American frontier and rodeo dress. This jacket is a commercial western-style garment. It is not a ceremonial or Indigenous-made piece and we do not present it as one.
Fringe, leather and construction
The fringe is cut from the same hide as the jacket and stitched into the yoke and sleeve seams. Combined with beadwork above it, the effect is layered: the beads catch light while the fringe carries the movement.
The leather itself is real hide with a smooth finish, chosen firm enough to support the weight of the beadwork without the panel distorting around the stitching. Over time it creases and softens like any real leather.
Fit, care and wearing it
Regular fit, room for a shirt at your normal size, hem at the hip. This is a jacket with a lot happening on it, so everything else in the outfit should be plain — solid shirt, straight jeans, plain boots.
Care is slightly more involved than a plain jacket. Wipe the leather with a barely damp cloth, keep water away from the beaded rows, and never machine wash or dry clean. If a bead thread ever loosens, get it re-stitched early rather than waiting.
Made to order, XS to 5XL and custom
Because of the handwork, this jacket takes longer to produce than a plain one — worth allowing for if you have a date in mind. Sizes XS to 5XL plus Custom to your own chest, shoulder, sleeve and back-length measurements. Free shipping, secure checkout, and honest pricing that reflects the hours involved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the beadwork done by hand?
Yes. The beads are stitched on individually in rows, which is why the jacket takes longer to make.
Will beads come off?
They are stitched rather than glued, so they hold with normal wear. If a thread loosens, have it re-stitched promptly.
Are two jackets identical?
No. Hand-applied beadwork varies slightly between pieces.
Is this an authentic Indigenous or ceremonial garment?
No. It is a commercial western-style jacket inspired by frontier and rodeo dress, and we do not claim otherwise.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the leather only, keeping moisture away from the beaded areas. No machine washing or dry cleaning.
How long does it take to make?
Longer than a plain jacket because of the handwork. Tell us if you have a deadline and we will confirm what is possible.
Can I request different bead colours?
Sometimes. Message us before ordering and we will tell you what is available.
