Men Pure Black B3 Shearling Jacket
The Men Pure Black B3 Shearling Jacket is sheepskin taken to the darkest finish available. Since sheepskin tans naturally to brown, a pure black shearling has been dyed there deliberately — and the dyeing itself is worth understanding, because it is harder than dyeing plain leather.
- Material: Genuine shearling sheepskin
- Fit: Regular fit, generous by design
- Closure: Front zip with collar straps
- Color: Pure black with natural wool
- Care: Brush the wool, wipe the hide, specialist cleaning only
Why dyeing shearling is difficult
A plain leather hide can be dyed straight through. Shearling cannot, because the fleece is attached and will take dye differently from the skin. Getting a deep, even black on the hide side without staining or stiffening the wool takes controlled processing, and it is one of the reasons dyed shearling costs more than natural.
The result on this jacket is a hide with genuine depth of colour and a fleece that stays its natural cream at the collar, cuffs and hem — which gives the sharpest possible contrast between the two sides of the same material.
What shearling does
One sheepskin, tanned with the fleece attached: leather outward blocking wind, wool inward trapping air, no seam between them. There is no separate lining and no boundary for cold to exploit, which is why it beats layered jackets of comparable thickness.
Wool also keeps insulating when slightly damp, unlike down — more relevant in a damp winter than raw warmth figures suggest.
Fit, wear and honest notes
Take your normal size — the pattern already allows for the fleece thickness. Collar straps close the throat against wind or unbuckle so the collar folds back. It is heavy and bulky, and both are the warmth.
Honest points: a fashion jacket rather than military surplus, with no genuine service insignia. Avoid heavy rain, never dry it near direct heat, and use a specialist sheepskin cleaner rather than a standard dry cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is black natural for sheepskin?
No. Sheepskin tans brown; a pure black hide has been dyed, which is a more controlled process than dyeing plain leather.
Is the wool dyed too?
The fleece stays its natural cream, which is what gives the sharp contrast at the collar and cuffs.
Is the shearling real?
Yes — genuine sheepskin tanned with the wool attached.
Is this military surplus?
No. It is a fashion jacket with no service insignia or issue history.
Should I size up?
No. The pattern already allows for the fleece thickness.
How should it be cleaned?
Brush the wool, wipe the hide, and use a specialist sheepskin cleaner — never a standard dry cleaner.
Do you offer custom sizing?
Yes — XS to 5XL plus Custom to your own measurements.

How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.

- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
