Overview & specifications
Men Aviator Bomber Leather Jacket
This is the leather aviator — flight-jacket lines without the shearling. It is the version that works across three seasons rather than six weeks, and for most people it is the more useful of the two.
- Material: Real leather with knit trim
- Fit: Regular fit
- Closure: Front zip
- Color: Brown
- Care: Wipe clean, condition twice a year, hang to store
Leather aviator versus shearling aviator
A shearling flight jacket is extraordinary in real cold and impractical the rest of the year — too heavy, too warm, too bulky above about five degrees.
A leather aviator keeps the pattern and drops the fleece. You get the same wind resistance, the same silhouette and the same sealed openings, at roughly a third of the weight. It works from autumn through spring rather than only in deep winter.
If you own one flight jacket, this is the one to own. The shearling is a specialist second.
What the design details do
Short body, so nothing bunches when seated. Knit cuffs and waistband, sealing the openings without bulk. A close collar rather than lapels, because loose fabric near controls was a hazard in a cockpit.
All of it functional in origin, and all of it useful in ordinary clothing — which is why the pattern outlived the aircraft by eighty years.
Fit, care and honest notes
Regular fit with room for a shirt or fine knit at your usual size. Size down for closer over a tee, up for a jumper. Knit hem at the waist.
Care: wipe with a soft dry cloth, condition once or twice a year, hang rather than fold.
Stated plainly: this is a reproduction-style fashion jacket. It is not military surplus, carries no genuine service insignia or unit markings, and we make no claim of issue history.
Made to order, XS to 5XL and custom
Made after you order in XS to 5XL, plus Custom — chest, shoulder, sleeve and back length. Because the knit waistband sits at the natural waist, back length is worth specifying if you are tall or short. Free shipping, secure checkout, and honest pricing on real leather.

Frequently Asked Questions
Leather aviator or shearling aviator?
Leather for three-season use at a third of the weight; shearling only if you need extreme warmth.
Is the leather real?
Yes, genuine leather with ribbed knit at the cuffs and waist.
Is it military surplus?
No. It is a reproduction-style fashion jacket with no service insignia or issue history.
How warm is it?
Leather blocks wind very well and the knit seals the openings. Add a jumper in deep winter.
Why is the body so short?
Flight jackets were cut short so they would not bunch when seated. It is also what gives the bomber its shape.
How do I care for it?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth and condition once or twice a year. Hang rather than fold.
Do you offer custom sizing?
Yes — XS to 5XL plus Custom to your own measurements.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
