GREEN Wool & White Leather Varsity Jacket For Women
Green is the varsity colour almost nobody uses, and that is the whole reason to choose it. Red, navy and black cover most letterman jackets, so a green body with white leather sleeves reads as a deliberate choice rather than a default — people notice it as a jacket rather than filing it as team kit.
- Material: Green wool body with genuine white leather sleeves
- Fit: Womens varsity fit
- Closure: Snap front placket
- Color: Green with white sleeves
- Care: Dry cloth the sleeves, brush the wool, never machine wash
Why green is easier to wear than red
A red-bodied varsity forces the rest of the outfit to work around it — red fights most warm tones and clashes with brown, tan and orange. Green does not. It sits comfortably with denim, cream, grey, tan and brown, which is a considerably wider range.
It also reads less like sportswear. Red and white is the archetypal team colourway; green and white is not associated with anything in particular, which is what lets it work as a fashion piece rather than a costume.
Cut for women
Narrower shoulders so the seam sits on your shoulder point rather than dropping past it. A shorter body so the ribbed hem gathers at the natural waist rather than below the hip. And a raised armhole, since a low men's armhole restricts movement on a narrower frame.
Those three changes are what separate a women's varsity from a men's pattern in smaller sizes, which is what most of the market sells.
Wool body, leather sleeves
The split is functional before it is visual. Wool across the body is warm, breathable and comfortable to sit against; leather on the sleeves handles the abrasion sleeves actually get from desks, doors and bag straps.
The shoulder seam where the two meet is double stitched and reinforced. Joining two different materials at a load-bearing seam is where a varsity most often fails, and reinforcing it is the difference between a jacket that lasts and one that does not.
White sleeves, honestly
White leather shows marks a dark sleeve would hide, and the main risk is dye transfer — from a dark bag strap, a car seat, or new denim. Caught early it usually lifts with a leather-safe cleaner; left for weeks it may not.
Not difficult to manage, but it needs more attention than a darker sleeve. Wipe them down when you take the jacket off rather than at the end of the season.
Build and fit
Snap front placket with each snap set through a reinforced tab. Dense knit rib at the collar, cuffs and hem that recovers rather than stretching out. Two angled side pockets, a lined body, and a plain back panel for lettering or a patch.
A snap front leaves small gaps between fasteners where a zip seals, so this is a mild-weather jacket. Take your normal size — room for a knit is already built in.
Jeans and trainers, keeping the rest plain since the jacket carries two colours. See the rest of our Women Varsity Jackets, or Women Bomber Leather Jackets for a zip front.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the sleeves real leather?
Yes, genuine leather. The body is wool, which is the traditional varsity construction.
Is green harder to wear than red?
Easier. Green sits with denim, cream, grey, tan and brown, where a red body fights most warm tones.
Do white sleeves mark easily?
More than dark ones. Dye transfer from bags, seats or new denim is the main risk and usually lifts if treated early.
Is it a women's pattern?
Yes — narrower shoulders, shorter body and a raised armhole, not a men's varsity sized down.
How do I clean a wool and leather jacket?
Dry cloth on the leather sleeves, soft brush on the wool body. Never machine wash or dry clean — what suits one material damages the other.
Can I add lettering or a patch?
Yes. The back panel is left plain for that.
What size should I order?
Your normal size. Room for a knit is already built in. Custom sizing is free.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
