The Freedom is a slim motorbike trouser with the seam construction of riding leathers rather than fashion ones. Every seam is doubled and reinforced, particularly at the inseam and seat, which are the two joins that take load on a bike and the two that fail first on a fashion trouser. It is cut slim, so it looks like a fashion trouser and is built like a riding one.

Why the seams matter

Sitting astride a bike puts continuous load on the inseam and the seat of a trouser in a way that walking does not. Riding leathers have always been built with doubled seams for that reason, and it is the single clearest difference between trousers made for riding and trousers made to look like it.

Doubling costs more in time and thread and shows nowhere in a photograph, which is exactly why it gets left out. It is worth having even if you never go near a bike, because the inseam is where any trouser eventually gives way.

Slim, but not restrictive

The leg is cut close but with shaping at the knee, so it follows a bent leg rather than running dead straight. That shaping is what keeps a slim leather trouser comfortable when you sit — leather has no stretch, so if the pattern does not allow for the bend, nothing else will.

Ankles are cut narrow to sit inside a boot.

Build

Faced waistband with a zip fly and belt loops set through reinforced points. Pocket bags backed. Seams flat stitched then doubled at the inseam and seat. The hide is a mid-weight real leather — heavy enough to take the construction, light enough to wear comfortably.

Fit and styling

Slim fit. Take your normal size and go up rather than down if you are between sizes, since leather does not stretch. If you have a fuller calf or higher instep, choose Custom and tell us — we will adjust the ankle.
