Overview & specifications
Basic Motor Biker Leather Vest For Men
Basic is the specification, not an apology. This is the biker vest with everything optional stripped out — premium leather, a front fastening, two pockets, a clean back panel, and nothing else. If you are buying your first leather vest, or you intend to build one up with patches over the years, this is the correct starting point.
- Material: 100% premium leather
- Fit: Regular mens fit
- Closure: Front fastening
- Color: Black
- Care: Dry cloth, condition twice a year, dry naturally away from heat
Why start basic
A vest that arrives already decorated is finished — whatever lacing, trim or studwork it came with is what it will always be. A plain one is the opposite: it is a starting point that becomes whatever you put on it over the following years, which is how riding vests have always worked.
It is also the cheapest way to find out whether you actually wear a leather vest. Plenty of people buy one, discover they reach for it constantly, and then buy a laced or studded one knowing what they want. Fewer people go the other way.
Where the money went
Into the hide and the stitching, since there is nothing else. The leather is premium grade cut from clean sections of the skin at a consistent weight, so the vest hangs evenly — on a plain garment there is no detailing to distract from a blemish or an uneven panel.
Seams are double stitched with heavy polyester thread. Fastenings are set through reinforced tabs rather than a single layer of hide, which is the point a cheap vest fails first. Armholes are bound rather than left raw.
The back panel
A single clean piece with no seam running across it, which is what you want if colours or a large patch are going on later. Stitching across a seam gives an uneven result and weakens the line under the patch's load. The hide is heavy enough for a leather repair shop or tailor to stitch straight onto.
Fit and styling
Regular fit. Take your normal size over a shirt or t-shirt, and size up if it is going over a leather jacket. Armholes are cut to clear a jacket sleeve.
Jeans, boots and a plain top. Over a jacket from our Men Leather Jackets it becomes a riding layer. When you want more detail, the laced, trimmed and buckled versions are in our Men Leather Vests range. Shirts to wear underneath are in Men Leather Shirts.
Sizes and made to order
Each vest is cut after you order. Standard sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL, plus Custom — send chest, waist and back length after checkout at no extra charge. Free worldwide shipping and secure checkout are included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does basic mean lower quality?
No. It means no decoration. The hide is premium grade and the stitching is the same as on our detailed vests — there is simply nothing added on top.
Is it a good first leather vest?
Yes. Plain is the right starting point, both because it goes with everything and because it is a blank base for patches.
Can I add patches or colours later?
Yes. The back is a single clean panel and the hide is heavy enough to stitch onto.
Is the leather real?
Yes, 100% premium leather cut from clean sections at a consistent weight.
What size should I order?
Your normal size over a shirt or tee, one size up to wear over a leather jacket. Custom sizing is free.
Is this certified riding protection?
No. It is a leather vest, not protective equipment.
How do I care for it?
Wipe with a dry cloth, dry naturally away from heat, condition twice a year. Never machine wash or dry clean.
