Air Force Aviator Hooded Leather Bomber Jacket
A hood on a leather jacket solves the one problem leather cannot solve on its own: your head. The jacket blocks wind completely across the body, and then leaves everything above the collar exposed. This aviator bomber adds a lined hood to the classic flight jacket shape, which makes it a genuinely more practical winter jacket than a hoodless one.
- Material: Real leather with a lined hood
- Fit: Regular aviator bomber fit
- Closure: Front zip with hood
- Color: Brown
- Care: Dry cloth on the leather, brush the hood lining, never wash
Why a hood changes the jacket
Most leather jackets are three-season pieces for one reason: they stop at the neck. Wind and rain go straight past the collar. A hood extends the jacket's coverage over the head and the back of the neck, which is where you actually feel cold once the body is protected.
It also changes the register. A hooded leather jacket reads casual rather than formal, which is either what you want or the reason to choose a plain bomber instead — both are in our Men Bomber Leather Jackets range.
Building a hood on leather
Harder than it sounds. A hood carries weight and pulls backwards on the neckline every time you move, so the collar seam has to be reinforced or the hood drags the jacket off your shoulders. The hood also needs enough structure to hold its shape when down — a flat leather hood collapses into a lump between the shoulder blades.
Both are addressed here: the neckline is reinforced and the hood is cut with shaping so it sits properly whether up or down.
Warmth
The hood is lined so it is warm against the head rather than being a leather shell. Combined with the ribbed cuffs and hem that seal the wrists and waist, the jacket closes off every route wind normally takes.
For full sheepskin warmth throughout, our B3 Bomber Jackets are the warmer option. This one is lighter and considerably easier to wear day to day.
Fit and styling
Regular fit. Take your normal size — room for a jumper is already built in. If you plan to wear a hooded sweatshirt underneath as well, size up, since two hoods stacked at the neck take up real space.
Jeans and boots, or trainers for a more casual read. Brown works better with blue denim than black leather does. See our Men Leather Jackets for other shapes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the hood removable?
On this pattern the hood is fixed. Message us before ordering if you need a detachable version.
Is the hood lined?
Yes, so it is warm against the head rather than a bare leather shell.
Does the hood sit flat when down?
Yes. It is cut with shaping so it holds its form instead of collapsing between the shoulders.
Will the hood pull the jacket backwards?
No. The neckline is reinforced to carry the hood's weight, which is what stops that.
Can I wear a hoodie underneath?
Yes, but size up — two hoods stacked at the neck take up real space.
Is it warmer than a plain bomber?
Yes, because it covers the head and back of the neck. For maximum warmth, a full sheepskin B3 is warmer still.
How do I care for it?
Dry cloth on the leather, brush the hood lining, keep away from direct heat. Never machine wash or dry clean.
Size & fit
Measure your chest or bust at the fullest point, natural waist, shoulder width and sleeve length. Allow for the clothing you plan to wear underneath when discussing fit.
Use a flexible measuring tape. Keep measurements in one unit: centimetres or inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm). Enter the unit selected in the custom-size form.
How to take body measurements
Ask another person to help. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug. Record your body measurements without adding extra room.
- 5 — Chest / bust: around the fullest part, under the arms.
- 6 — Waist: around the natural waistline.
- 7 — Hips: around the fullest part.
- 15 — Sleeve: from shoulder to wrist with the elbow slightly bent.
- 19 — Inseam: from crotch to ankle.
